A Thank You From Seminole County Friends of Abused Children

Posted By: Sydney Jamieson AAGO Foundation News, Charity Partner News,

The Seminole County Friends of Abused children supports Seminole County's most vulnerable children, with a goal of adding stability to the lives of abused and neglected children in Greater Orlando. This organization receives no federal funding and is fully staffed by volunteers, so they rely exclusively on grants and contributions from organizations like ours!

The AAGO Foundation's $2,500 donation will go toward helping to pay for day-to-day living expenses that state-funded programs fail to address. These items include but are not limited to:

  • Educational Support
  • Sports and other Extracurricular Activities
  • Medical Care
  • Clothing
  • and More!

Our 2020-2021 AAGO Foundation President, Joseph Rosenwasser, received the following letter from Faith Shorthouse, Treasurer of Seminole County Friends of Abused Children on February 3, 2021:

Dear Joseph and Friends of the Foundation:

Thank you for the very generous grant of $2,500 in support of our mission to the abused and neglected children and young adults aging out of the foster care system.

Your gift enables us to continue to support the needs of those we serve throughout Seminole County. It gives us the ability to expand our resources to the increasing number of children that unfortunately become involved in the Dependency Court System due to abuse, neglect and abandonment. We anticipate an increase in the number of those children who are coming back to school after isolation in a at risk family situations. We have been offering financial support during this epidemic to provide the children with the necessary tools to participate in at home education.

Fundraising activity has been a challenge due to COVID-19 restrictions, which makes your donation a "real gift" to us! We are grateful for your support and commitment and applaud your outreach as a valuable community partner. Together we make a difference!
